Study 11: Valuing Pedagogy for Mathematics (VPM)
While it may be argued that every teacher action is guided by – and conveys – values, effective values transfer / teaching cannot be assumed to be automatic. Instead, effective values transfer / teaching is likely dependent on the nature of the pedagogy represented by the singular action or by a string of associated actions. Conceptualised in 2023, this study seeks to identify, document and describe these effective Valuing Pedagogies for Mathematics amongst teachers.
The Research Questions are:
RQ1: What might be effective valuing pedagogies in the mathematics classroom?
RQ2: How are relevant values successfully conveyed to students through these effective valuing pedagogies?
