New paper on the MWB of New Zealand students

Congrats on a new paper recently published by Jodie Hunter and Julia Hill!
This paper examines the mathematical wellbeing among 12,000+ diverse primary and secondary students in New Zealand. The standout finding? The highest proportion of students across all cultural groups reported peer support and collaboration as crucial to their mathematical wellbeing – mentioning it five times more often than any other factor. This study is also the first to report on Pacific students’ perspectives on mathematical wellbeing. Their findings suggest that students are more likely to thrive in mathematics when they have opportunities to work collaboratively, support their peers, and participate in reciprocal learning experiences. Educators might consider how to intentionally incorporate these elements into their mathematics teaching to foster positive mathematical wellbeing for all students.
